About the Author
CATHERINE WALKER (B.A., Wheaton College; M.A., Columbia Bible College; M.R.E. and D.R.E., Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) previously served as an instructor at the Indonesian Baptist Theological Seminary in Semarang for 26 years. Upon retirement she served as special assistant for intercessory prayer at Foreign Mission Board headquarters. She is author of Bible Workbook Volumes I and II and six theological textbooks in the Indonesian language. She also co-authored Disciples and Prayer Life.

Wasn't sure quite what to expect. Planning on using these in our personal Bible study at home. Love all the questions. Would buy again for a class.
I have this book and the New Testament version. While I have not started on the New Testament version, I have found that this book does ask that you refer to excerpts from the new Testament. Issues with this book are only a few really. The first is that depending on what version of the Book you are using, the Bible, you may have a bit of a different quote that the author is looking for. For example, she has set out blanks instead of lines in places where the learner is to write each word in. Well, I just write straight across as mine isn't exactly word-for-word as the version the author was using. Understand also, this book was published in the 1940's. However, the message is timeless. The lessons are timeless.There is no answer key for this workbook. There are some questions which do give you a place to search. One such place was, "Who was Cain's wife?". I knew where to look for this knowing the Bible but, for others, this may place them in some element of confusion. My resource for this book when I am just not sure? Google. Look there as that is one place I can go to ensure I have the correct answer or, I am uncertain of where to find the answer and I can find both the answer as well as the place IN the Bible and then, read more in my own Bible. Thank goodness for Google!Overall, I like this book a lot. I love that she focuses on first the Old Testament and then, the New Testament in another book. I find this helps me to really learn each part of the Bible and focus on that alone without skipping all over the place.I have already recommended this to a friend who was surprised by the age of the book and that it is still in print! I am enjoying my self-studying of the Bible very much thanks to this author.Added note: I would NOT say it is for a high school student or lower. I, myself have a Master's degree in 2-areas and find it to be- not difficult at all but, I am learning things I did not know or hadn't known until using this book to guide me. I also went to Catholic School as a child. That said, I think if you wish to, "brush up" on your learning, this is a resource to reach for.
I ordered this bible workbook volume 1 for the Old Testament and just getting to using it and have noticed that there are quite a few Old Testament books that are not in it. I don't know if you sent me a misfit book or not but it's missing ISAIAH, LAMENTATIONS,EZEKIEL, DANIEL,HOSEA, JOEL, AMOS, MICAH,NAHUM,HABBAKUK,ZEPHANIAH, MALACHI, ZECHARIAH. THESE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOKS THAT ARE MISSING. I cannot believe they aren't in this workbook.is ther another volume I'm missing. This is terrible!
This has been a great guide through the Old Testament for me. It's my first time reading through it all together and this makes you an active reader and guides you through the important concepts for a newbie. Highly recommend for young people and those new to the Bible. It's fun and fruitful to read the Word! Time flies as I complete the questions and draw closer to the Lord. Thank you for this resource!

This is exactly what I was looking for. I attend church and small or life groups but I was looking for somehting a little bit more to learn about the bible and the debth of it. This is perfect! I love that I can write in it and there is so much information. It really breaks everything down and gets into the history of the bible. It is great for reading and studying more. A great way to take your knowledge of the bible further.@hymn.life
Really like this book. What I've been looking for with the various topics, notes, references, outlines and questions. Very helpful to me, as I learn better with q&a and writing things out. Having better understanding. Def recommend this for anybody.
