As a rule, I never read Westerns and hope I'm never stranded on a desert island with nothing but a trunkful of Westerns, although under those circumstances, I would read every one.However, this series caught my eye with The Servant Girl Murders. I started reading New Orleans Lynchings and decided I needed to go back and read the first book, The Beale Treasure.Apparently these stories are based on real events, and the author has turned those bits of history into interesting and entertaining stories about a bounty hunter called Frank Vito.If you like learning a little history while being entertained, you ought to give this series a shot.31
Nice clean read and being male, I appreciate you letting the ladies win occasionally.
I have lived in Lynchburg, VA all my life and heard of the Beale treasure all my life. There was a recent expedition searching for the treasure, so this is still a viable idea. I don't believe it is still there, but the book certainly has a lot of information about the letters that Beale sent to family telling about part of the map. This book deals with two murderous brothers who are looking for the treasure and will kill anyone in their way. Following them is a bounty hunter and a woman also searching for gold.
I love the independence and strength of Frank's lady partner! Not afraid to speak her mind to Frank. Very capable lady. This Lady kept me from my yardwork, couldn't get anything done , had to get a Coffee and keep reading! Frank listened to her and did what he wanted to anyway ! Captivating Read.
Enjoyed this book. Is a page turner.
If you like Westerns with a twist and quick fun reads, this one is for you. The characters are predictable but the plot held my attention. I'm traveling soon and will get another in the Frank Vito series for the trip.
This is a fun read, easy to follow and enjoyable. Frank Vito travels to join his bounty hunter partner only to find him murdered. This leads to an unlikely friend to help him track down the dangerous Baker brothers.
Enjoyed this book, the stories action was very realistic, well except for the woman gunslinger and a horse named after a rock song. I would recommend it without hesitation.
