I love John MacArthur. I am an avid reader of his work and listener of his interpretation of Gods Word. As a fairly new Christian woman, I have a strong background in feminist theory and ironically child and family studies. I have often struggled with my identity in the church as a woman. It has seemed like an odd form of oppression but as I have studied scripture and read about church history and the woman's role I am encouraged and comforted. I honestly read this book in one read. I believe that it will be used and should be used as a study with a accountability partner or bible study group. I love the questions, reviews and considerations at the end of the chapters. Also, I am always throughly impressed by the culture implications that MacArthur uses to illuminate the scripture. I love it. Looking forward to reading and sharing with a friend.
I really liked this book for its straight to the point manner, but scriptural based. Excellent explanations of the meaning of words and the cultural aspects of the biblical timeframe in which they were written. It also gives today's women encouragement and understanding of what the Bible says for a Woman's role.
Really like Dr. MacArthur writing. Sometimes too wordy but very easy to read, understand and gives Godly reasons to apply to one's heart and life.
MacArthur captures the essence of the highest calling given to any human...motherhood. This book is well written and the author uses only scripture to prove his points. A must read for every woman wondering what God has in store for her or as in my season of life, validating my life's work and worth.
Excellent Biblical perspective on God's role for women. This study serves as a guide to a great discussion on the roles of women and how Satan has twisted and perverted the truth in the world we live in. We used this last summer for a study and we had 40+ women in attendance who all came away with "Wow"
A great over-all view of God’s design for women!
Excellent book, all the Pastors should give a free cop to every couple in premarital counseling before they marry them. All the evangelical feminist in all the churches world wide need to read this book before they get married.I Jesus name!
For years I mostly avoided MacArthur's work, writing him off as rigid and doctrinaire. However, I've come to see that the standard he lifts up for women is the standard God presents in His Word, and the standard that brings peace to a weary heart.
