I loved this book! I tried it on a whim without high expectations because there are debut RH books daily and often the writing needs a lot of work and the stories feel recycled. Not so this book! It was refreshingly well written and unique. I loved the character development, and the super villain, the Ringmaster, is awesomely evil but also a really brand new type of bad guy compared to the usual villain tropes. Everything about this story felt creative and uniquely spun.I also enjoyed how our heroine, Carlyle, was able to embrace her own sexuality, despite some initial inner conflicts. She doesn't mope around all book; she is mature and rational and enjoys growing into herself as she discovers her identity. I found her really likable and relatable. The guys are awesome. They each have distinct personalities, and I loved them all. They sucked me right in, and I appreciate that the author has Carlyle connect with them in different ways and at different speeds. It felt natural and left room for me to crave seeing the relationships continue to develop.I can't wait for book 2! This is one I purchased, and I've already pre-ordered book 2, despite the fact that I have KU. I know I want to keep these permanently in my library to re-read in the future. That should speak for itself as far as recommendations go!
What an intriguing start to this new fantasy romance series. We meet Carlyle who has been on the run pretty much her whole life because she is different and she knows it. Her powers make others want to control her so she is always on guard. Well of course a few unexpected things have to happen that will change her life permanently in a way that may or may not be good we will just have to wait and see. In depth characters you can relate to place in an original story that will suck you in. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
The author came up with an interesting storyline for Piece of Dragon, book one of the Haret Chronicles. The storyline is unique: a unicorn is the only creature that can create a path between worlds. The problem? Trying to find a unicorn. Loved the characters and the quirky plot. A lot of unresolved threads, but this may be a good series to stick with. I'm intrigued by the possibilities.
I really loved how each MMC has been introduced and while there definately attraction it is still a slow burn. Just the right amount longing but has enough heat.Love Jack (so much) , Sol, Dair.... and of course Killian but I expect him to work for it in book 2. Jail for a very closed book so hoping to find out more about him and Toro. I was savoring this book all week since I didn’t want it to end. I already pre-ordered book 2
Carlyle and her guys are amazing. This is a very original RH. There is nothing like it out there right now. It's fun and light while still bringing excitement to the story. 5 stars all the way
Just finished this wonderful and imaginative read. The world created in this book is original and fun to read about... it does help there are some delicious men in the book. I would recommend this to those of you who enjoy RH.
This story was awesome! It drew me in and wouldn't let go of me until I finished it. I highly recommend it! I really look forward to the next book.
This was a great start to a new series. I enjoyed this a lot and I can't wait for the next one. I really want to meet Toro and get Jack back.
