My favorite thing about this book was that the advice column played such an important part. I also loved that the columnist was a guy, and that he gave such amazing and honest advice (which surely comes straight from the brain of Kelsie Stelting!). I loved the flawed main characters, who did their best under difficult and stressful circumstances. The text messages of the two main characters were fun, funny, and serious too. This is one of the author’s best books yet. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!If there’s a sequel, I have a wish list for what happens next, but I can’t say what without dropping major spoilers. ;)

Kelsie Stelting has a gift for writing meaningful YA, coming-of-age stories, and Dear Adam is no exception. This book does, however, have a special something. Maybe it's Emerick's character, his struggle and desire to succeed. Or maybe it's Nora and the very real conflicts she faces within her family. The characters, along with their correspondence, create a story that is heartfelt and not to be missed.

This is a fun readEmerick seems like a bad boy: missing classes, barely getting passing grades, and nobody really looks further to see the reasons. When he is offered the choice to write the advice column or drop out he sees it as just one more burden on his already overloaded plate, but soon he discovers that the column just might be a blessing.Nora on the other hand is seen as the perfect student. Nobody sees how she is trying to handle more than she can and is steering towards a burn out. When she writes to the anonymous columnist Adam for advice a conversation between the two starts up. Neither of them knows who they're really talking to, but both enjoy the emails they send each other.I loved seeing Emerick and Nora connect in their emails and to see the two of them find someone they can talk to about their problems. Their interactions in real life are very different, but it just might be that their emails might lead them to see the world and each other differently. This is a sweet story about two teens connecting and finding out that they have more in common than is clear on the outside. But it's not all sweetness. There are hard truths to deal with, jealousy, and difficult choices have to be made. All in all this is a really engaging read. I can advice it to anyone who loves a good Contemporary YA read

I loved this book! The author alternated chapters from the point of view of the two main characters, Emerick and Nora. Emerick is in jeopardy of not graduating high school until the administration suggests he start a "Dear Adam" advice column in the high school newspaper. Nora recently broke up with the most popular boy in school, and writes the advice column for, well, advice. At the same time, she and Emerick are paired up for a school project, which she is not looking forward to because he's usually thought of as an unmotivated student. She and "Adam" start emailing each other outside the column, and a friendship blossoms. She wants to meet him, but Emerick cannot unveil his identity. It's kind of a right side of the tacks vs. the wrong side of the tracks story, and it's very well-told. I laughed and I cried (while I was on an airplane, no less!), and I can't wait to read more! Another thing I really liked about this book is that it made the high school characters seem real, and not just a bunch of stereotypes.

I absolutely loved this story! It was so incredibly good that I read it in one sitting. This is definitely my kind of read. It is a clean YA romance with super awesome characters. The emails were so good that I want to say they were my favorite part of the story but even when they interacted in real life I loved it because they were not enemies but they were not friends either, just schoolmates and they thought they didn't like each other. I loved their back stories, we really got to know all the characters, even the secondary characters. This book was kind of perfect, at least for me. Really, really loved it!Will definitely recommend this book to all my friends and blog followers. This book might actually make it into my top reads for this year. It is that good!

What a funny and sweet YA contemporary romance! It was super fun reading it altogether. The writing, character development, and romance were extremely strong. The characters Emerick and Nora are a great couple together. I really liked their awkwardness and sweetness as teenagers. They are extremely relatable. The issues they go through are very difficult and the way they handle it is amazing in their very own unique way. Each character complemented each other. The chemistry between them was great. The romance had a very nice slow-burn way of weaving. The most adorable part of the novel was the whole exchange of messages and letters. I really liked how they were just so sweet. Each character was super real in their letters and made my heart a pile of mush. The letters made the story extremely unique in their own way.The romance and difficult issues in this novel are A+. One of the things I really like from this author is that she talks about difficult topics. The book does not shy away from the many difficult themes but handles it in a sweet way appropriate for a YA audience. The only reason this book is receiving four instead of five stars is because of the way it ended. I felt that ending very abrupt. I think having an extra chapter that summed everything up would have made have proper closure for the characters.Despite this criticism, I recommend YA lovers for a sweet, but emotional romance pick this novel up.
