I bought this book in the hope of getting an idea about what migration entails, as in the past few days, there have been some talks amongst my friends regarding migrating to another country. And reading an informative book is the best way to gain knowledge.The author, Louis Boamponsem, has done a fabulous job in writing this book. He has broken down this herculean topic into easy practical chapters. Initially, I was extremely overwhelmed with the topic, but reading this book gave me an insight and a practical knowledge on how to go about it. The author not only tells us the ways to prepare for it, but he also narrates his personal experience and the extensive research done by him and his wife, prior to migration.Each chapter of the book is devoted to a particular pre-preparation part of migration starting from the innate strong desire to the actions that needs to be taken like travel and visa opportunities, and to understand the migration barriers along with job procurement.The author has enlisted his detailed study on various problems encountered prior to visa procurement and has given tips about flight tickets, insurance, finance, health, and packing.Louis has written the entire book in an easy to understand format with quotes, tables, and bullet points which make it effortless to remember his words.I was amazed at the detailed description of various countries and their job opportunities. It is obvious that Louis has poured his heart and brain into this book, as each point is discussed upon in detail but in a light handed manner so that the reader is not overwhelmed.There were some points which I did not understand in the book regarding labour market and immigration policies and nation shopping. I skipped those parts and have left it for another day, as a deeper second read.I would not say I know everything about migration, but now after reading this book, at least I have a reference point to study further and to think in a scientific manner about this topic.
